Push-to-Talk Comms
for Australian Bus Fleets.
Route-wide 4G/5G coverage. Web Dispatcher. GPS tracking. Lone worker. Duress management. Arrives already programmed for your fleet — no IT, no repeaters, no drama.
Still running on UHF that drops
out — or a Zello app that doesn’t?
Most Australian bus operators are patching together comms from whatever’s available. Dead zones on long runs. Consumer apps on personal phones. No dispatcher visibility. There is a better way — and it doesn’t involve new towers, repeater leases, or a helpdesk in another country.
UHF Dead Zones
Tunnels, valleys, regional runs — your drivers go silent exactly when you need them. Old repeater infrastructure was designed for a network that doesn’t look anything like your routes today.
Consumer Apps on Professional Fleets
Zello works until the driver switches apps, the phone battery dies, or the call drops mid-route. Tools built for consumers weren’t engineered for professional fleet operations — full stop.
Zero Dispatcher Visibility
You’re managing a fleet from the depot, guessing where everyone is. When something goes wrong on a run, response time suffers because the information simply isn’t there in real time.
Compliance Pressure Is Real
WHS Regulation 48, NHVR Chain of Responsibility, lone worker obligations — they all assume you can contact your drivers reliably. Informal phone systems and consumer apps don’t meet that bar.
Purpose-built PTT over cellular.
Designed for buses. Ready to go.
Press2TALK is not a radio app, and it’s not a consumer PTT platform. We own our own server infrastructure, we designed the hardware, and our engineers work in your time zone. Everything is built to work together — out of the box, on day one.
Route-Wide 4G/5G Coverage
Wherever there’s a cellular signal, your drivers can talk. We check coverage against your specific routes before you commit to anything. If we can’t cover your operation, we won’t take your money.
Web Dispatcher — Fleet Control
Real-time GPS mapping, live vehicle tracking, duress management, voice recording & playback, job ticketing, lone worker monitoring — all from any browser. No software to install, always up to date.
Arrives Pre-Programmed
Devices leave our facility configured with your driver names, vehicle names or rego numbers, and your channel setup. Plug in, press, talk. We’ve had some customers up and running in under an hour.
Duress & Lone Worker Built-In
Orange duress button on every device, feeding directly into our Advanced Dispatcher Duress Management Platform. Includes SMS notification to nominated contacts, reverse geocode of the activating radio’s location, and full audit trail. Built for bus operators managing drivers on regional routes.
Group & Private Comms
Channel broadcast to everyone, private call to one driver, or anywhere in between. Create temporary groups on the fly. Text-to-speech job messaging to any radio. Priority interrupt for urgent comms. Configure by depot, by route, or by shift.
Australian Support — Real Engineers
When something happens at 2am on a Sunday, a real person answers. Not a chatbot, not a ticketing queue — an engineer who knows our system, in your time zone, on our own infrastructure.
Every device designed by the same
team that built the network.
Hardware and software from the same source, integrated at the design phase — not bolted together after the fact. This is what separates us from every other PoC provider in Australia.
Bus operators have real legal obligations.
Press2TALK is how you meet them.
This isn’t about box-ticking. Australian bus operators face hard legal duties around driver communication, worker safety, and incident response. Using a consumer app or ageing UHF infrastructure is not a compliant answer to any of them.
Effective Communication Is Legally Required
Under the national Work Health & Safety Regulation (Reg 48), any person conducting a business must provide a system of work that includes effective communication with workers performing remote or isolated work. Bus drivers — particularly on regional, school, and community routes — meet this definition. Maximum penalty: 345 penalty units for a body corporate. Press2TALK provides a documented, auditable communication system that meets this obligation.
Operators Share Responsibility for Driver Safety
Under the Heavy Vehicle National Law, operators, schedulers, and consignors all share responsibility for ensuring safe operations. That includes the ability to communicate with drivers on the road and respond to incidents in real time. The NHVR explicitly identifies lone worker monitoring as a relevant control measure. Press2TALK’s dispatcher platform and voice recording provide the audit trail that demonstrating compliance requires.
Your Voice and GPS Data Stays in Australia
Australian Privacy Principle 8 places obligations on where personal information can be sent offshore. Voice recordings and GPS data are personal information. Competitors using AWS or Azure — including US-headquartered platforms — expose your organisation to US CLOUD Act jurisdiction. Press2TALK hosts everything on Australian-owned server hardware, in Australian data centres. That’s a technical guarantee, not a policy.
What Press2TALK delivers for compliance
- ✓ Documented, auditable communication system for every driver on every route — satisfies WHS Reg 48.
- ✓ Orange duress button on every M50K and handportable, integrated with the Advanced Dispatcher Duress Platform.
- ✓ Lone worker management — operators can activate lone worker protocols on any radio remotely, on the fly.
- ✓ 36-month voice recording retention — every call, both ends, including driver-to-driver calls the dispatcher wasn’t part of.
- ✓ Full GPS location log with breadcrumb history — supports incident investigation and CoR obligations.
- ✓ SMS duress notification to nominated contacts — your operations team is alerted the moment a driver activates duress.
- ✓ Reverse geocode of duress event — street address sent to all radios and dispatcher within seconds of activation.
- ✓ All data hosted on Australian servers — zero offshore data risk, zero US CLOUD Act exposure.
- ✓ Exportable dispatcher logs — incident reports, duress records, GPS history, call records. Ready for SafeWork, coroner, or regulator inquiry.
A note on Zello and consumer PTT apps: These tools often have no duress integration, no call recording, no GPS dispatcher, and no Australian data hosting. If a driver on your route activates an emergency and there is no auditable record of your response, your exposure under WHS and CoR legislation could be significant.
Any PTT provider can say they cover Australia.
Here’s what actually separates us.
We’re not going to tell you we’re “the best” — we’re going to tell you what we built and let you draw your own conclusions.
We own the infrastructure — not rent it
Our servers are ours — Hewlett Packard Enterprise hardware, running in Equinix ISO-certified Australian data centres. Not AWS, not Azure, not a shared cloud VM. We own the hardware, which is why we can guarantee 100% uptime and why your data has never and will never leave Australia.
Hardware and network — same engineers
Our radios were designed by the same manufacturer who built the network platform. Every component — handportable, mobile, software, server — was integrated at the design phase. Not bolted together from three different suppliers and hoped for the best. That integration is why we run 100% uptime.
Your data stays in Australia. Full stop.
Voice recordings, GPS data, messaging logs — all stored on our own server hardware in Australian data centres. This isn’t a marketing claim. It’s technically enforced — there is no path for that data to leave the country. Zero US CLOUD Act exposure. Zero Privacy Act APP 8 risk.
We check coverage before you commit
We’ll map your routes against network coverage before you sign anything. If we can’t cover your operation, we’ll tell you straight — we don’t take money we haven’t earned. No operator has ever been surprised by a coverage gap after going live with us. Better still, snag a Demo and check the route coverage for yourself! How transparent is that.
Lockdown mode — drivers can’t break it
Our devices run custom firmware that blocks access to the Android operating system. Drivers can’t enable Airplane Mode, sign into personal accounts, browse the internet, or disable the SIM. From their perspective, it’s a two-way radio. For you, it’s a managed fleet device.
Exclusive Australian importer — no grey market
We are the only company in Australia that distributes this hardware. Every device carries the legally required ACMA/RCM certification mark. No grey market imports, no compliance risk. If you’re buying Kirisun PoC hardware from anyone else in Australia, ask them where it came from.
Vehicle as a Node — The Road Ahead
The Press2TALK PoC system is your foundation. For bus operators who need satellite-grade coverage on remote routes, or who want to converge CCTV, GPS, PTT, and passenger Wi-Fi onto a single in-vehicle network, we offer a phased path to Vehicle as a Node (VaaN) — without replacing anything you’ve already deployed.
Core PoC System
M50K mobile radios, T60K/T65 handportables, Web Dispatcher, GPS, duress, voice recording. Full PTT coverage over Telstra 4G/5G. Everything on this page. Deployable in days.
VaaN Central Router
Add a Cradlepoint/Ericsson in-vehicle router. Connect PTT, CCTV, GPS tracker, and Starlink satellite to a single cellular/satellite multi-WAN hub. One SIM, full failover, zero dead zones.
Converged Fleet Platform
Add components one by one: passenger Wi-Fi, CanBUS telemetry, driver ID integration, automated geofence channel switching. The router is the foundation — capabilities grow as you need them.
Satellite Failover
Starlink LEO satellite provides connectivity when cellular coverage drops — critical for regional routes.
One SIM, All Services
Cellular router handles all in-vehicle connectivity — PTT, CCTV, GPS, passenger Wi-Fi — from a single SIM.
Enterprise-Grade Security
Cradlepoint zero-trust security protects every device on the in-vehicle network from the same threats that face fixed offices.
Phased Investment
No need to do everything at once. Phase 1 replaces your comms today. Phase 2 and 3 are added when your budget and operational requirements are ready.
The questions we always get.
