Built to live in your vehicle, not just survive it

The M50K is a dedicated in-vehicle PTT radio — it bolts into your cab, draws power from your 12V or 24V system, and is on from the moment you turn the ignition. There is no app to open, no phone to unlock, no battery to charge at the end of a shift. Push to Talk for Fleets.

It connects to the Press2Talk network over 4G (with automatic WiFi offload when in a depot), and every device in your fleet can talk to every other device — in groups or one-to-one — regardless of whether they’re across the street or across the country.

The keypad microphone hangs where your driver can reach it. The display shows who’s talking, missed calls, and channel status at a glance. Three programmable keys handle the functions your operation actually uses — not a generic button layout from a device designed for a hundred different industries.

Why a dedicated radio outperforms a phone with a PTT app

Yes, the Press2Talk Smartphone App works. It’s a legitimate option for some roles. But for drivers who are in a vehicle all day, purpose-built hardware does things a phone simply can’t. Here’s what that means in practice.

🎙️

One button. No unlock.

A phone requires unlocking the screen, opening the app, and finding the PTT button. The M50K microphone has one button. Press it while keeping both eyes on the road. This is not a convenience — it’s a safety argument.

🔊

Audio built for cabin noise

The M50K’s audio chain is designed for vehicles: a loud, clear speaker that cuts through engine and road noise, and high-definition voice as standard. A phone held in a dock and running a PTT app doesn’t come close in a noisy cab at 100km/h. If thats not enough, our 8 watt external speaker will do the trick.

Powered by the vehicle

The M50K runs on 13–24V DC — your vehicle’s electrical system. It never needs recharging. A smartphone running a PTT app continuously will typically be flat within 6–8 hours, which doesn’t cover most long-haul or shift-based operations.

🌡️

Handles Australian conditions

The M50K is rated from –20°C to +55°C operating temperature. A vehicle parked in the sun in Queensland can easily reach that inside — most smartphones will shut down. The M50K handles the heat and keeps communicating.

🚫

No distractions. It’s a radio.

No notifications. No social media. No personal calls. The M50K does one thing: fleet PTT communication. That’s good for safety, good for focus, and good for compliance if your operation has a personal device policy.

📡

OTAP — update the fleet remotely

Over-the-air programming means you can push software updates and configuration changes to every M50K in the fleet without pulling a vehicle off the road. Channels, talkgroups, and settings change centrally. Nobody touches a device.

Frequently asked questions

The questions fleet managers ask us before they commit to an M50K deployment.

We have a mix of 12V vans and 24V trucks. Does the M50K work in both?

Yes. The M50K’s working voltage range is 13–24V DC, which covers both 12V light vehicles (cars, vans, utes) and 24V heavy vehicles (trucks, buses, plant equipment) without any adaptor or converter. One SKU. One procurement line. Both vehicle types.

Our vehicles park in the sun in Queensland. Will the M50K survive the heat?

The operating temperature range is –20°C to +55°C, and storage temperature is –40°C to +80°C. A vehicle interior can reach high temps when parked in direct sun — the M50K has been sitting at those temperatures for years. Most smartphones thermal-throttle or shut down in those conditions.

Can drivers make a private call to one other person, or is it all broadcast?

Both. The M50K supports group PTT (broadcast to a talkgroup), individual 1-to-1 private calls using the keypad mic, and call reminder functions. Drivers can dial a colleague directly without broadcasting to the whole fleet. If you want this feature enabled, of course

Do you cover our regional and rural routes?

The M50K connects via 4GX/4G/3G using all major Australian LTE bands including the B28 700MHz band, which is the band carriers specifically built out for regional coverage. Coverage is typically greater than standard mobile phone coverage. For specific routes, we can run a coverage check before you commit. Better still, snag a Demo and see for yourelf.

How does OTAP work and why does it matter?

OTAP (Over-the-Air Programming) means we can push configuration changes — new talkgroups, updated channel plans, software versions — to every M50K in the fleet simultaneously, without having a technician visit each vehicle. When your operation changes (new routes, new depots, new teams), the radio configuration keeps up without taking vehicles off the road.

We already have smartphones in the trucks. Why not just use the PTT app?

The Smartphone App is a real option for some roles — and if your existing phones work for what you need, we’ll tell you that. But for drivers in vehicles all day: the M50K has a dedicated PTT button (no screen unlock), a purpose-built audio chain that cuts through cabin noise, and it draws power from the vehicle so it’s always charged. Most smartphones run flat after 6–8 hours of continuous PTT use. The M50K doesn’t have a battery problem because it doesn’t have a battery.

What does the 14-day free trial involve?

We send you pre-programmed M50K units ready to install in your vehicles. You run them on your actual routes, with your actual team, for 14 days. No credit card. If it works — and it usually does — you decide how many units you want in the fleet. If it doesn’t, you return them and there’s no cost to you.
